How right or wrong is it to call someone a fool? Being honest is one thing. But honestly thinking that some is a fool itself means that you put yourself in a higher pedestal of understanding as compared to the 'someone'. How can anyone be ever at a position to put oneself in a higher pedestal of understanding when absolute knowledge to any humankind is impossible.
Who then has the right to call me a fool other than myself. It is another thing that I am a fool in my own eye, because I have proved to be one time and again according to my own standards which are applicable only to me.
In no context do I have any right to barge my standards on anyone else therefore in no context do I have the right to call anyone a fool or consider them inferior to me, nor does any human have a right to call me one in any context whatsoever.
God has the right to do so, and God alone has the right. God is my mirror and he has shown me many times how foolish I have been.
I must also add that criticisms are much appreciated from anyone in whatever context, but belittling of another is not.
All the same, I have great respect for honesty and honest opinions. Hence if one thinks that I am a fool, I have no ego issues (only ethical issues) if one prefers to tell me the same. I would much rather know what is the honest opinion than being lied to. Hence if you do feel that I am a fool you are most welcome to tell me because I would happily agree with you. But I will not accept it from your standards and perspective, the reason being again that you have not complete/absolute knowledge to judge me.
However, I also believe that perspectives and standards must be shared to gain a wider, better and healthier perspective. To learn more and enrich our experiences these conversations and sharing is a must, where one respects the other and if desires to negate, does so without belittling the others' opinions.
Hence if you think I am a fool you are belittling me, my experiences (however limited they may be), and my perspective, thereby rejecting the knowledge that you might receive from me, my experience and my perspective.
Have a pleasant day.

True. I totally agree. Never underestimate anyone.
Satya, I wrote a very long reply to this post but when i clicked on the post button it gave an error and I lost my comment. May some other time I will reply.
But one quick remark, you have a very clear and logical thought-process. It's an ideal quality to do philosophy. Wish you do philosophy!
That is extremely sad sir, I would have loved to know your response. In any case thank! I myself have considered doing philosophy, but at a later stage. My first attempt after graduation is going to study history, one year by myself along with working and then do masters in it in a formal university.
sutts you have called me a fool so many times.
i believe everyone is a fool at one point of time n being called a fool isnt sumthing i think um bothered off.
reminds me of the vanishing cabinet and may be always-already(ref. to Althusser's essay I gave you) but, knowing 'What' is highly dysfunctional in this context...no offense to Pinto sir and the perseverance of the epistemological domain (if I may)- the thought behind this if considered logical has been confined to the contours of a mere idea. It is quite unfortunate.
My dear savita, I understood this comment only after you explained it to me personally. Maybe, when you write for others, (in this case me and others in this sphere), you might wanna try keeping in mind that the readers do not have have the same exposure as you do. (I guess here you assumed that I did)
See when you break it down to layman language in speech (when we were talking) it was so easy to understand. If others here understand your comment you might get good criticisms of your approach and hence help you understand your own approach and concerns better. And I know you agree that its nice to know what others think of the same thing as you ;)
Love you :)
Dear Ashu..
As I said I do not have ego issues if someone calls me a fool, but ethical issues. To what right must someone call me a fool is what I ask.
If we go by your argument, that everyone is a fool at one point of time or another, thereby everyone is a fool, then also no one has a right to put themselves in a higher pedestal than others.
My concern shared here is not a personal concern (although it may seem like it and in many ways it might be), where I am bothered about who is calling me fool. It is a more general concern about how can someone think of others as a fool. Although I have used "I" and "me", here, I have a problem with people in general who think high of themselves.
The problem is the 'tendency' of people to place themselves in a higher pedestal and think of themselves as better
(so have I many times). Being self righteous and so on.
I understand that what you are trying to say is that why should what others think of me affect me.(correct me if I am wrong) It does not affect me if I do not 'receive' being called a fool, and here in this post I am saying what is the reason that I will not receive it from any human.
@ harish... only to tick you off ;)
